The Society supports community integration for all people served and student interns and volunteers enrich the process of inclusion by bringing in community members. We encourage, then, student interns and volunteers to work within the supported living and day programs bringing meaningful and productive roles in the lives of the persons served.
Definition of a Volunteer
A volunteer is someone who, after being determined as eligible by the Society, performs a service without expectation of compensation, other than reimbursement for approved out-of-pocket expenses. Volunteers perform services that enhance existing services by paid staff, or work in other capacities to further the goals of the agency. Volunteers may participate as part of a specific project or event.
Volunteer Rights and Responsibilities
Volunteers are viewed as a valuable resource to our Society, our staff and our persons served. Volunteers will receive meaningful assignments, be treated as equal co-workers, and receive effective supervision. In return, volunteers will agree to actively perform their duties to the best of their abilities and to remain loyal to the mission, vision, and goals of the Society.
